The ATF-Evernote road show, and Innovate Africa API Challenge, which started in Lagos on June 30, and passed through Nairobi, Kenya has finally rounded up in Capetown, South Africa. Three winning app developer companies have been selected from each of these regions, as announced by Evernote.

The search was for the best African applications that integrate with the Evernote platform and open API, and the top three app developers have emerged. The three regional winners will then go on to compete to represent the continent on an all-expense paid week-long trip to the 2014 Evernote Platform Awards.

For the West African region, the competition was held in Lagos, Nigeria and Nigerian management app, Prowork, a collaborative project management solution for business teams, has emerged winner of the API challenge. Prowork was officially launched in 2012 and was named one of  Global Forum’s top 50 entrepreneurs in May 2013.

Chamasoft, investment group management software, emerged winner in East Africa, at the Kenyan venue; while OurHood, A private social network Connecting South African neighbours and communities led the competition in South Africa.

The winning African app company will get to visit Evernote HQ, and present their application live on stage during the Evernote Conference, EC4, in San Francisco; represent Africa at the 2014 Evernote Platform Awards to be held in Silicon Valley later this year and get 12 months’ worth of mentoring and advisory services from the ATF.

As an advocate for startups, this is truly exciting news. Congratulations and goodluck to the three companies.
