Earlier this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, WhatsApp CEO, Jan Koum hinted that they were working on adding real-time voice calling to the messaging app “this spring”. It appears this might be happening sooner than we expect.

Earlier today, WPCentral got wind of revelatory translation requests, sent by WhatsApp to Hindi translation volunteers earlier this week. The requests show new entries for “Hang up”, “Incoming call”, “Outgoing call”. Translations are usually one of the last things developers do before rolling out an international product, so this is probably a clear indication that this update is just around the corner.

Looks like our telcos might have more reasons to be worried.
